Conversion Course

Entry Requirements

  • UKCP training in Adult Psychotherapy or other training in Adult Psychotherapy which was equivalent to UKCP training standards and the following requirements were met:
    • minimum of three year duration course
    • personal therapy requirement throughout the course
    • minimum of 450 client hours requirement
    • other than UKCP professional body/university recognition
  • Evidence of experience of professional or personal involvement with children or adolescents in caring capacity
  • Personal qualities and aptitude to work with vulnerable children
  • Enhanced Police Check

After the initial interview each candidate who has been offered a place on the Conversion Course will attend an individual meeting with the Course Director. There will be an individual assessment of candidate’s prior training in order to establish the candidate’s individual training needs.

Each student will need to meet Terapia’s Training Outcomes, the UKCP Child Psychotherapy Training Checklist (see attached) in order to qualify.  The Checklist is a summary of the Psychotherapy with Children Principles Aims and Guidelines for Training. (available on request from Terapia’s office or UKCP.)
