Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Adolesent Counselling

Accreditation

Terapia endeavours to provide the highest standard of training. We offer following professional accreditations and academic qualifications:

UKCP (United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy):

As an accredited member organisation of UKCP we offer our graduates the opportunity to become UKCP accredited practitioners and a registration as a Child Psychotherapist.

BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy)

Terapia is an Organisational Member of BACP and we are bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and subject to the Professional Conduct Procedure therein.

Upon successful completion of the Diploma Training, students will be able to seek individual accreditation with BACP providing they have accumulated required number of contact hours counted towards meeting criterion 1.1 of the BACP Accreditation Criteria. All students will also have to meet criteria 2-6 of the BACP Scheme.

Middlesex University

Currently there are three awards available to students:

  • After two years: Certificate in Child Development and Observational Studies (60 university credits)
  • After three years: Postgraduate Diploma in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling (120 university credits)
  • After Four Years: MA in Integrative Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy and Counselling (180 university Credits)

All credits are transferable.

Due to re-structuring our programme, in 2012 the Certificate in Adult Counselling will offer 30 credits (subject to new validation)

The new structure of the course will offer the following qualifications:

  • Certificate in Adult Counselling Skills: 30 credits
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Adolescent Counselling: 120 credits and eligibility for applying to BACP for individual accreditation
  • MA in Integrative Child and Adolescent Counselling and Psychotherapist: 180 credits and registration as Child Psychotherapist with UKCP.
