Second Year

Theory

• Working with adolescents: sexuality and sexual issues, self-harm and suicide
• Adolescence search for purpose and meaning, existential and spiritual dilemmas
• Eating disorders: anorexia nervosa and bulimia nervosa
• Drug and substance abuse
• Group work with children and young people
• Gender, race and cultural issues
• Working with children with special needs sensory impairments, learning difficulty, physical disability
• Cognitive& Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
• Research methods and their application in the field of psychotherapy and counselling
• Ethics: code of practice and legal issues
• Restraint
• Consolidating theory and practice preparing case studies, dissertations and final viva
