Supervision in Adult, Child and Adolescent Psychology and Counselling

Programme

Welcome to the first UK Child Psychotherapy Supervision course. We are excited to offer this unique programme which has been created as a response to the dearth of qualified Child Psychotherapy Supervisors.

The training is open to practitioners with experience in therapeutic work with children and previous psychotherapy, counselling or therapeutic counselling trainings. We also welcome members of caring professions: psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers and coaches.

We endeavour to provide a training opportunity to the highest professional standards. The course addresses professional, ethical and legal dilemmas specific to the child and adolescent psychotherapy and counselling field.

Subjects covered:

  • Philosophical concepts of supervision. Supervisory relationship; tasks & roles
  • Use of creative materials in supervision: sand tray, symbols, art materials as supervision tools for child, adolescents and adult psychotherapists
  • Ethical dilemmas in psychotherapeutic work with children, adolescents and adults
  • Assessment methods in working with children
  • Child psychotherapists in court - court appearances and court reports
  • Current legislation relating to therapeutic work with children
  • Safeguarding children/child protection issues
  • Tape and video recording in child psychotherapy
  • Working with difference
  • Live supervision.

The training takes places over seven weekends thus welcomes candidates from all over the country.
